What are yall running in the qtr mile?
Discussion
I think you'll find that there's not much attention paid to just qtr mile times on this particular section of the forum..
A post in General Gassing may well get a better response..
slinky
btw, I love qtr miles and am part of a race team

slinky's not wrong, but out of interest my car ran similar times just after it was bought, 13.2 at 108 typical, then still some years back half way through project porky it was running high 12's. Should be a bit quicker now but haven't sweated at the christmas tree for ages. If you want to see some times for PH cars, 0-60, 0-100 and V max, take a look at the VMax forum in the Events group here...and a warm welcome to you from turbo towers.
I let my 19 year old son have a bash at the standing quarter (photo attached) in my factory upgrade 430bhp 993TT on the basis thet he would DRIVE off the line and only give it some stick from second onwards.
With his friend beside him he still managed an OK 13.4 at 111mph.

I also tend towards the granny start - if it's good enough for Brundle etc - but I reckon it's pretty efficient for the RWD / reduced mass / high torque combo. Catch second half way round the dial then nail it to 80, shifting just below the redline. Sorry getting carried away here...
11.53 @ 130 mph, With an easy launch and shifting a bit below redline in the CTR,
all the best adam

Moderator to move? Daz, where are you!
BTW:
I managed a 13.7 at 110 in my standard TVR Griff500 with a crap start and lots of wheel spin.
(Im can get away with saying "TVR" in here as I say "Porsche" even more often in the TVR forums to wind em all up!)

Wow. That's movin! It'll take me another 5k to get that fast. Keep in mind that is.... "that" fast in the qtr with slicks. That time does NOT reflect any sort of performance on a road course. 3900 pounds is hard to move through corner's! Do any of you have video of you going through a road course? I'd love to see it! Thanks!
Fred
What about a street legal beetle on street tyres that will do 10.6 at 125?
Lightweight special, around 800kg, powered by a flat 4 turbo mill running 944S2 pistons and 964 heads, modified 964 cams and Motec for around 300bhp, delivered to the ground by a 915 gearbox. The car will lift the front wheels 2 foot in the air off the line in 1st gear!

Colin,
Somebody last year got a VW bus to lift the front wheels off the lights didn't they? T2 i think.
A mate of mine has two RHD 356s you see, and he runs around every day in one of his three vintage beetles.
He has all the old kit, Dino Dinosaur intakes, magnesium BRMs, the lot! Then he went and bought that '65 RHD 911 from Autoclassica...
