Carrera GT service

My car is due a 'big' service next year - last big service was done late 2009. Car is on 5000 miles and has been serviced annually, of course.

Are all you CGT owners sticking to this servicing schedule regardless of mileage?

Wow. Really? Not wishing to come across as facetious, but. This is the sort of question you expect to hear asked about a 987 or cheap hack. Not a Carrera GT.

But are you planning on selling ever? If I were lucky enough to be a potential buyer of one of the finest sports cars of its era, I would pass over one that had missed a service.

Probably, best ask mssrs Keywood and Manning at Reading to be on the safe side.

Yes dear god yes . Obey the servicing schedule as if it were the word of Crom.

I cut no corners on this , it's just not worth it .

Obviously it will have its annual service - I am just interested in what other owners have done wrt the major 4 year service.

I do mine every time ( due again next year ) . But my car gets used a lot and very hard on track days , limit days , airfields etc .
I double / triple my services . Oil and filters after every single event and big service every time it's due .

I was told by someone who should know that the chaps at Porsche Reading would let you know if they felt it was required and that mainly would depend on mileage and/or use. Best thing would be to check with them.

I was talking to Reading a few months ago re the servicing costs should I decide to buy one. They did indicate the 4 year service on a very low mileage car - depending on use - may not actually need to be quite so comprehensive. I read that to be a more common sense approach which could save a bit of money, while not compromising the integrity and service history of the car.

Do any owners have any actual feedback on the 4 yearly services as regards what actually needed to be done, against what was actually expected to be required, thinking mainly the valve clearances here ??

Presently lined up for a new GT3, but can't help thinking the GT might be the way to go, still a month or 2 to decide.
