997 vs 997 S

In every day driving is there any real difference between the 3.6 and 3.8 2005 997s ?
Also, is there any fact in the claim that the 3.6 engine is less prone to IMS/bore scoring problems than the 3.8 ?

What would you guys pay for a really good condition 2005/55 997 C2, 58k miles, FSH from a good indy ?

I had a 3.8 for a couple of years, and I had a 3.6 on loan for a week or so whilst mine was in the paint shop and I thought my S was a lot nicer to drive - more grunt and smoother.

In terms of used values, for a good spec probably mid 20s.

both are cracking cars mate but the C2 S has the better brakes

Back in 2005, several of the better media writers (inc Harris and Sutcliffe, IIRC) said the standard 997 3.6 was actually nicer than the 997 3.8S.

however, the example they had was fitted with pccbs, which they felt could have improved the chassis dynamics.
