Looking for a bit of advice chaps...
Do you think I'll get an advisory for tyres if they have 3 mm of tread left at an OPC MOT?
I know they get pretty excited when the tyres hit 4 mm & advise for it on servicing. Call me sad but my car has never failed or had an advisory on MOTs & I'd prefer to keep it that way. Usually I'd use a friendly local garage for MOTs but have some other stuff I wanted to get checked out under warranty so was thinking of getting the OPC to MOT it at the same time.

I would expect so for your own safety. As we approach a wet and leaf strewn autumn, it's maybe time for us all to check our tyres. Mine were down to 3mm after a fun summer and so have just put some new rears on and it has boosted my confidence as I look at the forecast. Additionally, I may better withstand a rogue nail or screw with a deeper tread. Good luck!
Probably, just had mine MOTd at my local OPC for the same reason, I wanted to get a few things checked out as it's for sale and the warranty is ending soon.
It came away with advisories for 'rear tyres worn on inside edge' although they still have pelnty of life left in them, and 'child seat prevented testing of rear belt', after previously agonizing about having a different OPC stamp in the service book it would appear I'm growing as a person and am not the most Porsche obsessed chap on the internet, I must let my wife know.
As it turned out the car is in fine fettle, the suspected issues weren't issues at all and they even did a DME printout for free, happy days!

Chances are that after the MOT, the car will get negligible use until Feb where I was planning on getting new rubber fitted for the spring. I wouldn't run the car through the winter months with low tyres but it seems daft to replace them now to be stood up for a couple of months.

Porsche OPC Guildford has a viewing area and has done my last 5 years MOTs.
They do it in an hour, while I drink their coffee, eat a biscuit or two, read the papers and buy a tee shirt.

Cardiff are the OPC that I use & to be honest I've found them very good.I'm guessing by the response, most people get the MOT done outside the OPC network.

Booked mine in at Newcastle , they confirmed the mot tester was in on a Saturday morning.
When I went to get it done , the tester was on a day off and one of the valeters drove it to another garage to,get it done.
Took nearly two hours , to say I was unhappy was an understatement.
I could have and should have taken it to my local garage , far quicker and less hassle.
To be fair the service receptionist ended up waiving the charge .

Well, don't I look the idiot? 
I've seen an MOT ramp at a Mercedes dealer (Macclesfield) that was kind of in a huge glass box within the sales showroom and I wondered how it would look to turn up with a stinker of a car or van and have them test it for all their customers to see, only a few yards from a £300k SLR.
