"FAB" Morning in North Wales

Got up at 5:40 this morning and headed to North Wales. Had to be an early start as needed to be back at home for 10am.
Love travelling at this time of the day. Something magical about driving through the dawn.
Arrived at the bottom of the Triangle as it was getting light.
Did a couple of legs and couple of the spurs. Met a nice couple in a modded 996C4S that were on a dawn raid from the Porsche Club GB outing that were base out of Llangollen.
Took a couple of the little spur roads off the Triangle too. Some lovely roads that are completely deserted. Short, but sweet.
On the way back down to Ruthin (probably my favourite bit of road) passed all the crowds heading up the hill. Glad I got up early.
Car feels fantastic up there. Running Trofeo R tyres was probably a bit of overkill for the road but the extra grip feels wonderful on lovely dry Tarmac. Gives real confidence. Great fun.
Can't be many more weekends like this left this year. Very lucky indeed.

Only issue with travelling in convoy is the huge potential for stone chipping. A lot of loose gravel around. Bit of a shame.

But you do have to beware of loose clippings after they resurfaced a good section of the triangle earlier in the summer.
Always keep 'em peeled for plod as well!

I was there yesterday afternoon (Triangle + 190 miles of North Wales finest Tarmac), got home at midnight after dinner at the Groes Inn....still grinning !!
Apart from the odd car here and there and an over enthusiastic BMW driver (who spun off in front of us...was ok...his car not so lucky
), had the roads to ourselves. Man those Lotuses can corner....was amazing being amongst them

Thanks Mike. Nice to meet you and your good lady too. Grey to see people truly enthusiastic about their cars and driving out there doing it. By the way, when I was behind you I couldn't hear my car over the noise coming from yours! Epic sound! Like I said, it's the car that's fast... ;-)

You're right there, what better time to have fun on the triangle than just as dawn is breaking on a sleepy Sunday morning, bliss! It made me chuckle when we got back down to Cerrigydrudion and you were parked up looking like you'd had time to have a bacon sandwich, catch up on PH forum and read the Sunday Times front to back since we'd parted after our photo opp

It's a second car for me so lives in the garage during the week. Bought it new in May 2010 and is now on 18000 miles.It is the perfect sports car for me - quick enough, handles like a dream, sublime steering, reasonably cheap to run and looks like a million dollars. Sports exhaust sounds good too. Silly roof gives it a sense of occasion. I rate it highly.
