996 dash light

hi all I have fitted a gtm style rear spoiler and removed the original motor etc but left the wire in place but the red spoiler warning light still comes on the dash is there anyway of fooling the car so it stays out?

There's someone on here with a guards red 996t who did the same and has stopped the error light coming on. Can't remember who but if they don't show up search for a thread about 996 colours from towards a year ago.

Should be able to code off in the instrument cluster depending on age of vehicle.

You can change the wiring harness for the one used in the GT3. I think its about 70 quid, but it pops up on ebay now and again.

I have one but keeping it in case i want to use my gt3 spoiler again (and mine got chewed up and repaired with solder so not really for sale!)

hi thanks I will keep an eye out for 1, I didn't know if anyone has put an inline resistor etc into the loom

There are 2 harnesses depending on whether you have the third brake light or not.
If you don't have the brake light you could just put a jumper across terminal 2 and 5.

I had this also.

The easiest thing to do was remove the bulb from the dash. That fixed it with no adverse affects.

hi yes I have the 3rd brake light but that is the sort of mod I was thinking of

although I have removed all the motor and lifting kit, I am wondering weather to just reconnect the motor unit only to see if it thinks the motor is working, not sure if it will work, but cant see any harm in trying it
