Hi all
I am looking at buying a GT2 996, does anyone have any info on the following cars please:

Don't know the cars although I have owned a GT2 twice. The source of both cars is significant. The first is at a dealer with an excellent reputation, but somewhere where....lets say...prices tend to be higher than average. The second is at another dealer and the search function on here may help you reach a decision on that one.
I would go and see both and drive both. I would not focus on millage. Condition, condition.
Quite a few have been stuck into crash barriers, hedges etc... Many repairs can be done extremely well so that you would notice without a trained eye. I would get somebody to inspect each panel to make sure it was original if it is advertised as such. Simple checks are things like the fan under the bonnet. check date on sticker this should not be after the date of registration. Check panels under the front boot trim for respray. Check sticker in this area too for any raised paint (the sticker should sit proud all the way round). I only picked these things up when having my GT2 inspected and there are many more I have forgotten to list.
So important to get it insepcted. I have no knowledge of either car dealer personaly but general opinion seems to favour one of these over the other. But there are so few good cars around go see both.
Give each a call and ask them to talk you through the history of the car. You can tell a lot from the phone call.

Interesting to hear comments about different delears. I'm completely new to Porsche's ("I know nothing") and rang the second dealer about a car (not GT2) last week.
After about 3 mins on the phone I decided I would never buy a car from them - based solely on my comfort feeling after a 3 min call.

All the usual 996 areas need looking at, so pay attention to the radiators and air con condensers as they can rot due to debris. Check the brakes in particular the disc's if the car is still on pccb units, most of the uk 996 gt2's had them as standard. Tyres to make sure that they are serviceable and the age of the tyre is within guidelines, the car produces a lot of power through those back wheels, say no more.
I purchased mine privately, always good to speak to the current owner and see the car without any dealer prep.
The black car you list seems to have different door cards to the GT2's I have seen and my own car, they look like standard 996 units as they have the larger door speaker units which mine doesn't have? My car doesn't have front door speakers and I can't see that they were offered as a factory upgrade on the 996 GT cars.
Most of the UK cars are known on here, you may get lucky and a previous owner may be on PH and contact you.

Long time no speak, nice to hear your thinking the same as me when it comes to 996 GT2's
As you probaly know ive sold a few of my RS's this year to have a change and start collecting Porsche cars, ive bought 2 996 GT2's this year, the first being 2001 black car with buckets seats done 8k 1 owner from new with 12 supplying dealer stamps and a 2004 gen 2 GT2 in grey done 16k, again 1 owner with full history
I'm thinking they are so under valued and have been for a long time, surely they have to go up in value, in my mind a better investment than RS500's at the moment, the black car i have was £118k new compared to a Sierra Cosworth RS 500 £20k new, any GT Porsche must be good a good investment at current prices, thats just my opinion of course

Interesting comments about door cards. I do not have a picture of my GT2 but a picture of my GT3 shows the door cards. I do not know if they are the same for GT2. That is odd, I thought it was going to be their website address, which would make complete sense to have displayed in sales photos, but www.hwm.biz isn't anything to do with them as far as I can see?
