Picked up new Porsche Cayman S not as specified - HELP!!

Hi All,
I have been following the forum ever since I placed my order for my Cayman S nearly 4 months ago.
Well the big day was yesterday afternoon when I actually picked the car up, I was absolutely over the moon with car but noticed this morning to my horror that one of the options I had ordered was not actually fitted to the vehicle.
Spoke with the OPC salesman who sold me the car and all credit to him he held his hands up and said the fault was down to them, but unfortunately the option cannot be retrofitted.
I am absolutely gutted, the salesman has been been fantastic with me, but I don't think I can live with £63K car that is not exactly as I specified, this is meant to be the car of my dreams and I know its going to drive me crackers not having this particular option fitted.
If you could give me some advise as to what you would do in my position I would be very grateful.

So get them to order it properly to your spec and get a 2014 registered car.

I'm surprised you did not notice it on collection. I picked my new Boxster up on Saturday and the first thing I looked at was that all the options were present.

The option is heated seats, I appreciate some of you will think it's not a big deal, but my last 4 cars have all had heated seats and for me to spend more than twice as much as I have ever done on a car before and not have that option would really get to annoy me over the next 3 years.

Why go to all that trouble skirting around the detail, knowing full well everybody would ask.

tricky as they are a nice option and one I would want in a new car of that type.

I would guess they can still sell it on for more then it cost them.
Just your wait will be ages for a new car and then the winter will have gone and you won't need the heated seats :-/
Can they not swap seats with one in the show room with heated seats ? and add the buttons
I would say all the wires would be there.
only other option is ask for 10% off the £63k would 6k make it feel like you had a deal and could do with out the seats.

I'd want another car unless there was a carrot for keeping it in the form of a very large discount/saving.
However, I don't think it would really take so many months to get a new car in this situation. The OPC will have plenty of orders in a long queue, they should be able to slot yours in to the next available build slot that's not yet spec-locked) and just push everyone else back a bit - unlikely to be more than a week's extra wait for anyone really. I'm sure that whatever they have to offer by way of an apology to anyone else (if anything at all) will cost them less than this car being rejected and the order cancelled altogether and them having to sell it as a used car.

my car had Buckets in 1st, then for some reason had heated sports seats in and then I re swaped them back out for the buckets.If anybody knows different please say so as I am going into the OPC later.
So I would say yes possible to fit, but hassle on their part.
Used demonstrators with 6 months use are advertised about 20% off list so I think you could expect 15% off as compensation, particularly as they really won't want to buy this back. That's if you want to go this way. I realise it must be really annoying for this to happen but FWIW my previous Boxster didn't have heated seats and was fine.
I'd challenge on the retrofit response though. What happens if the filament in a seat goes? Presumably they replace (retrofit) the seat. As noted above I expect the wiring is there already and the revised facia panel is an easy fit. I'd think all this is better than giving you 15% - the margin on options is huge and part costs are low.

I don't know about this car specifically, but retro-fitting something electrical ain't as easy as it used to be... Almost certainly mean a significant change to a CAN bus loom, extra control units, switches, trim, etc... Long gone are the days when manufacturers fitted wiring for all options and only connected the ones fitted to that car...
When my early Audi TT had ESP retro-fitted, all cars had to go back to the factory, stripped down, new looms fitted, etc...

So sorry to her this mate. I agree with other posters - either ask for 15% discount on total price, or did your heels in, and if they really won't budge refuse to take delivery of the car and ask for new one appropriately specced.,They should give you a decent loaner until it arrives. I took delivery of my ex-demo Cayman S last week and it is awesome - better than my previous 4S and looks gorgeous in Agate with pebble grey and black interior
