996 Oil Pressure Indicator Failure?

I'm getting the random appearance on the dash of a little oil can and the message "failure indicator", and this coincides with a drop to zero on the pressure gauge for a few seconds and then it corrects itself. I can go a few days without it happening, then it might occur several times in an hour.
Has anyone had this?
I presume it's either a loose wire or failing sender unit. Anyone know where the thin is so I can fiddle with the connector?

Yes, likely to be faulty pressure sensor, very common, not overly expessive to repair.

..Most likely to be the sender on the block, mine did the same, then the gauge went to zero, then max, then zero, it's a £100 fix, no dramas.. but it did make me pay attention when I saw the zero oil pressure..!

Yes I did indeed nearly need to refresh my undercrackers. Somehow I always seem to be waiting for something disastrous to happen- probably because of the over-egged stories of IMS/bore scoring etc etc! Now it's just annoying.
Anyone know where it is so I can give the wire a wiggle?

What he said - I remember I was driving rather spiritedly when the warning flashed up and the oil pressure went to zero.
