How much is an acceptable/expected amount of oil to find on the garage floor from my '89 Carrera 3.2?

Bit concerned cos new car is dropping a bit!!

Cheers

Ideally none, but it depends where it's coming from. Topped up and spilt a bit? No problem. Case covers weeping a bit? Could be worse. Gearbox input seal? And the rest? Sure it's engine oil? Have a closer look and a sniff and report back maybe, also what's a 'bit'? Good luck.

Taking her out again now - will check garage floor and also check if it appears to be normal engine oil as you suggest. It has had a 12,000 mile service recently so could be pretty full...?

I will report back later..... Fingers crossed...

Okay...

I had a pool approx the size of a small saucer under the car, however, I believe this was due to water getting under my garage door during a heavy downpoor and spreading the oil...

When I checked again this morning I had a small patch approx size of £2 coin under both sides of the rear.

The liquid has no particular smell to it and looks/feels very much like new clean oil which I assume it is.

I am no mechanic and have a very basic knowledge of engines/mechanics so wouldnt know what I am looking at in particular underneath (I couldnt name the engine component where the leak seems to come from) I am driving the car pretty much on a daily basis at the moment, so would you think it acceptable to lose a small amount of oil consistently???

Where did you get it serviced?

Both myself and a close freind are having difficulties with an independant regarding oil leaks/spillage.

Email me offline if you require details of where.
