997 Gen 2 Oil Consumption

My 3800cc S uses approx. 0.25l/1000miles.
Don't forget these engines have a more sophisticated oil supply system - no mechanical oil pump, but an electric pump which delivers oil when and where it's needed in the engine. So I would say the variation we see amongst owners could be down to driving style rather than differences in engines!
They have a handy digital oil-level gauge, so it's easy to check if stopped on the level at traffic lights (need about 40 seconds on idle).

In 6k miles (14k-20k) I've added about 1l of oil. Wow that's amazing. It's not just what the dealers tell you - the oil consumption is documented in the Owner's Manual too! I don't have it to hand to check...For the record, mine has done 47,000 miles. I do very mixed driving from short 2 mile runs to work, 150 mile trips on the motorway and 20 mile blasts around the countryside.
You don t say what engine size.
Had several Gen 2 C2S and now GTS. All low mileage. None needed top ups between servicing, irrespective of type of driving.
I am told it depends on how the car is run in. Being too gentle and short journeys is often worse than being too aggressive. Like most things in life moderation is best.......

is that why some people are using more oil,the short trips where there engine doesn't get warm?me personally I would never drive a performance car 2 miles to work let it sit cold all day and then drive 2 miles home!
none of my cars have used much if any oil and I never do short trips!i would even drive out my way if I have a short trip to make sure the engine is warmed up

If so bear in mind a PDK is virtually ipossible to over rev. Not so a manual. In addition to my previous comments, this could be another and more significant reason for excessive oil consumption......

It's a manual but no over-revs apparently, so if that's the underlying cause i should be ok? It's being prepared inc. 111 point check at OPC at the momentIf so bear in mind a PDK is virtually ipossible to over rev. Not so a manual.
