PCP payments on a new Cayman S
Discussion
Hello all. I am currently researching the options for my next car which I will purchase in the new year. I have a few options on my list and want to get an idea of the affordability of a new cayman s specced to around £61k. I will have around a £7k deposit, and the maximum I want to spend per month is £650 on a 10k a year deal. Having played about on the porsche site, I think I am way off as it was giving figures of around £850-£900 a month, however I would value your opinions/experiences.

Seems highly optimistic!Assuming £61k car, £7k deposit and £30,500 residual / balloon (50%, which is optimistic) and 8% APR gives a monthly premium of around £930.

The residual will be around 50% of the base car without options! I would push hard for a discount and finance elsewhere. You might get closer Assuming £61k car, £7k deposit and £30,500 residual / balloon (50%, which is optimistic) and 8% APR gives a monthly premium of around £930.
Jamie at performance car finance gave me some decent rates and seem well known on the internet forumsYeah, think I am probably way out, however people seem to be paying around £650 a month for new bmw M5s at around £75k. I appreciate that they tend to get £10k discounts, but the M5 is a hell of a lot of car for that sort of money, so I thought there me be a chance that in reality a cayman s would be cheaper than the website suggests. I guess people buying a cayman s new tend to put down much larger deposits or buy outright, as around £1000 a month seems a hell of a lot for a £60k car considering the current market and deals around on other manufactures.

Your not comparing apples with apples!M5's, C63's and E63's are being offered at highly discounted prices by dealers with super low APR's so they're absolute bargains at £499 - £600 per month. I doubt Porsche will ever provide that type of discount because their sales volumes are less than BMW and Merc.
The M5's are that rate because BMW can't shift them at full 95k retail, but don't want to discount the list price. Porsche can shift enough Caymans at 50k-60k that they don't need to discount particularly.
If you want a performance car at a discount, get an M5 / C63 while the deals last. If you want a Cayman, you'll have to pay the price of entry.

I suspected this was the case. Thanks for the advice. If you want a performance car at a discount, get an M5 / C63 while the deals last. If you want a Cayman, you'll have to pay the price of entry.

As long as I don't die in my sleep I will probably secure my Cayman S tomorrow.
Your numbers look very high.
What discount have you secured?
What APR are they quoting?
What term are you trying to do the PCP over?
Mileage?
Was this directed at me? I had a play with the porsche configurer and when I specced the cayman s to around £61k with 10k mile a year limit over 3 years with a £7k deposit it was something like £850 a month.Your numbers look very high.

Do you mind giving an idea of the deal you are looking to secure tomorrow?

Don't do it! Have a few years of saving and driving a boring car and buy the thing with cash! I did.
I don't want to wait years driving a boring car when I can afford a good one now and I am happy paying on finance. If I cant afford the porsche I will go for an M5 or a c63 or XFR so either way I will get something nice within the next few months. I studied hard and work hard and cars are a personal passion, and one I want to enjoy sooner rather than later.A standard Cayman S on a 36 month and 10k miles is £650pm with a £7k deposit.
The residual is £28204 no matter the spec. The only thing that will increase this is the PDK box, goes up about £1700. PDK makes the monthly £669pm
You want to add £12000 worth of options, you have to pay all of this in your monthly.
Porsche's APR on a PCP is very high, as others have said there different finance houses to investigate

Are you going to suggest a nice red Boxster The residual is £28204 no matter the spec. The only thing that will increase this is the PDK box, goes up about £1700. PDK makes the monthly £669pm

The APR is wrong on the Porsche site - they are running the same promotion this quarter they did on the Boxster last month. So an APR of 7.5% and a £1000 from Porsche (not out of dealer margin), plus any discount you can get. If you can match PowerMalc's Boxster discount it will see the £669 tumble

Ha Ha A red Cayman would look nice
Not sure you could get as good a discount on the Cayman as a Boxster.
So Porsche put £1000 towards the deposit and a lower APR and if the resdiual stays the same that makes a new Cayman a very good deal on a PCP.
Any discount will also reduce the monthly and not effect the residual.

I don't think you will match your discount, but with the end of the year coming and a few Caymans built and ready to sell they are there. You will however need to take the car this quarter. Apparently dealers in Northants are doing so well they are tight on discounts
