Porsche Turbo vs. Pheasant (both loose)

Took the turbo out for a blast this afternoon.

Running a dream... saw a pheasant cross in front of me safely, then low and behold another "pheasant plucker" appeared at the last possible moment to join it's mate.

Tried to avoid but no chance...BANG




As well as the bumper damage, AC no longer works and can smell coolant. aaaaghhhh

Anyone know a good body shop in York area

Bummer.

Could be worse.

Mule deer....



New trunk lid, front bumper cover, right front fender, radiator and associated hardware, A/C condenser and associated hardware, head light and associated hardware, vapor recovery system under the fender), two new tires, one new wheel, paint.

All told approx. $25K later all was as it was before the impact.

I also hit a pheasant in my caterham last year, smashed nose cone grill and rad. I also did not expect so much damage sort of spoilt my day.

I hit one in the Cotswolds at about 70 on an R1, back about 10 years ago. Blood dripping off the screen and the inside of my visor. Didn't actually stop as I was running late for a trip meet at the petrol stop in Alton. There I found the pheasant was wrapped around the lower fork yoke and one of the fork legs, cooking gently against the radiator (wondered what the smell was!), much to the amusement of the other forecourt customers! Luckily for me, no damage to the bike at all.

Unlucky fella, I had a bird strike last year but managed to get away with a cracked radiator cowl so an easy DIY repair.

This is where a mongrel comes into its own over a Porsche thoroughbred.

This year we were enjoying a track day at Thruxton and the wife was driving our Quantum 2+2 RS turbo and whacked a pheasant killing it and after each lap the bird got spread across the track by other cars.
No damage to the kit car whatsoever.

2 kilos of pheasant at 70 does a lot of damage

as does Rockster's mule deer

or indeed a 70 kilo sheep.

Deer are the worst because the car takes the legs from under them and they come through the windscreen............................
