buying a 991 2S - query

back when i was young and had lots of hair and no children i had various 911's (all 996's between 1999 and 2005). a 4, then a 4s then a gt2.

then children came along, the hair started to fall out and growing up came along.

fortunately i realise the time to get back in a 911 is now, thanks to my mid life crisis.

i am looking at

991 2S
PSE
PDK
Sports Chrono Plus
Carrera Alloys
Black Leather
Either in white or in black

it seems to tick the boxes and is a good price.

i really can't be bothered to trapse up to the arctic circle to look and drive the car. i am assuming it will be stunning and much better than my 996's.

i would be interested in any feedback from current 991 owners on their experiences with the car and any spec options that i'm missing out on.

also as a straw poll, black or white? i can't really make my mind up.

I think spec looks good. I have GT3 on order but spent two days with 991 S and loved it. Seriously put smile on face, I currently am lucky to drive R8 v10 but 991 still stands out in many ways

I've had my 991 2S since September 12, same mid life crises. I love it! Puts a smile on my face every time I sit in it. Buy one you will not be disappointed.

Looks like a good spec to me - it has the PSE, PDK and sports chrono plus I personally like the white.

Go for it - I think the performance feels like quite a big step up from 996 albeit not your GT2!

An option I wish I had is Tyre Pressure Monitoring. It may be included in the "and much more".
Although my current 997.2 is black I do like Carerra White!

I only got around to buying my 1st 911 last year (aged 51), a 991 Carrera Cab. Fantastic. Fast enough for me, guards red but nearly got white. Wouldn't have a black one. Enjoy.

I bought a new 911S Cabriolet in June 2012, and I still love it (I am normally bored with a new car within about 6 months).

So far as options are concerned, if you want the traditional flappy paddle gear change, you have to get the SportsDesign steering wheel (at least you did, when I bought my car). Otherwise, you get Porsche's own gear changing system, which many don't like.

You also have to pay extra for electric seats.

It looks like the car you linked has both of these features.

Don't hide behind a mid life crisis, everyone needs one of these practical supercars- that bloke, the tent and all the parephenalia fitted into my 991, so you really need to get it bought-

The white one in the ad looks great, the wheels look ace with the white paint work.

Had my 50th anniversary 991 for a week or so now... very pleased. Had a 997 for 7 years, 991 is more civilised when you want.. my wife noted that the seats are much more comfy and car cruises quietly, but with sports exhaust open and shifts in sport+, it is a proper beast. Also i keep thinking that the roads around where I live have been re-surfaced. Like that white one, very smart indeed. Good value too. I paid 72k for my reasonably specced new 997 c2s in '05, so these are a steal, lightly used. Good luck, let us know how you get on.

I have nearly that exact car with very similar spec but a non S. I owned a 997 C2S a few years ago and a 993 before that and I can not rate the 991 enough.

Mine has sports plus and PASM and is truly exceptional.

I'm normally a gray/silver man but the white with the Carrera Classic wheels is a great looking 911.

I drove an Audi R8 back to back with the 991 and for me it was the better choice. Add to that I still have 2 small children and the back seats made it a fait accompli. (I did consider selling the children)....

I've driven a couple of 991'S's and enjoyed them both. One had pdcc, one didn't - preferred it without.

Also had a 991 C4'S' on loan and thought that was brilliant.

It felt too planted and polished, probably not helped by having PDK. Its an amazing tool and i'm sure a great day to day car, but it didn't excite.
