£50k what Porsche ?

With a max budget of £55k what Porsche would you go for ?
I'm torn between a 997 GT3 or new Cayman ..

997 GT3 is a good shout, and I'd also include a 997 GTS.
Personally, I wouldn't consider a new Cayman, heavy depreciation.

I think it'd depend on usage? A 55k 997.1 will have done the best part of 30k...

+1 for the GTS.

If you are looking for a daily driver then a GTS would be top of my list. You might just squeeze a Turbo in for £55K.

If you want real seat of your pants driving and a tight sphincter on slippery roads, go for the GT3. No rear seats.

GT3 would be the better bet for retained value in five or ten years time though.

Thanks for the advice guys, it will not be a daily driver as I work from home..
weekends and sunny days only ! also I would like something that will retain it's
value and feel special..997 GT3 is probably the way to go..

996 GT2 can be had for circa £50k. I would suggest getting behind the wheels of some cars then start to narrow the search down.

Lots of great models to choose from within that budget.

The new Cayman would be a more expensive buy (taking into account depreciation), but it would probably be a great deal cheaper to run. It would be under warranty, of course, should anything go wrong.

If you prefer to risk the costs of running a slightly older car, go for the GT3. If you want trouble-free motoring, buy the new Cayman and weep quietly at the depreciation.

OP, buy a 993, Save a wad on depreciation.

EDIT. Buy mine, just bring some strong blokes, the battery is flat as a pancake, the car is so wet inside I'm pretty damn sure I've seen fish. Not a car for the great out doors without a cover/garage.
