Changed C4s onto winters today, the rear nuts (this car has factory spacers) on my 55 reg had deteriorated so badly that several were as photo and 1 had the have an 18mm socket hammered on to undo it. They seem much softer material than the bolts on the front. Luckily I had 2 spares which anti-thefts had replaced. Be aware of this if changing at home. I will be getting a new set next week and replacing all.

Use this on the threads and you'll be fine in future.
Its not the threads. Its the fact that the alloy becomes brittle and gets hammered with air guns and then breaks up.Martian O said:
But if the threads are lubricated so not tight or seized, surely the bolt head should be able to take being undone?
Mmmm. I see what you are saying and maybe it could help extend their life but I think that the core issue is that alloy is brittle and is easily broken up by air guns.Gassing Station | Porsche General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
