997 GT2 Tyres

Where's the best place to get at new 997 GT2 tyres? I know the Pilot Cup Sport 325's on the rear are quite difficult to source. Anyone found a good source.

They're not that hard to get.

325 N1's At Camskill, Pneus online, and Mytyres. £413, £413 & £466 respectively.

I normally use Event Tyres but their Cup+ are quite steep at the moment, £490ish. Camskill seems about the best value at the moment.

I'm probably going to need some more before long, car has quite an appetite for 325s

I bought some from Oponeo last week. Around 400 each. They had the best prices from what I could see.

Can M Pilot Supersports be fitted for the winter ?

Yes you can, however as far as I know they aren't N rated yet. It's also sometimes difficult to find the rear sizes.

I bought the rears from Tire Rack in the US (very helpful indeed) and have had the Supersports on for nearly a year - very pleased with them indeed as they warm quickly and provide great grip in cold and wet conditions.

I can't remember the exact shipping cost, but duty came to 200 quid. With the lower price of the tyres from the US, the total price including shipping and duty was about the same as you'd pay in the UK.

Tire Rack were excellent, and the tyres arrived by FedEx within the week. My local OPC supplied the fronts, and fitted those and the rears. Tyre spec etc was identical and I wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

In case you're wondering why I got the rears from the US, it was because Michelin UK claimed that Michelin didn't make that size!

Michelin only manufacture this size in the US (have a look on your side wall "made in USA") and they are not imported to Europe at all in fact when I brought the first 325s over a few of years ago they had to check that they had the relevant Euro approvals to be able to export them to EU - they did....... it is a ridiculous state of affairs but at least the import process is fairly painless

I just looked on Michelin UK website and they do in fact list the 325/30 X19 size now so looks like Michelin now "recommends" it in the UK

I'm actually wondering what I will do with the PS Cups ... I can't see myself re-fitting them !!

I dont have a GT2 but I do have a car with 530bhp and 325 x 30 x 19's on and I can say that the Michelin Pilot Supersports are the dogs danglies, on track and autrocross and on the street. Previously I had semi slicks and these PSS's are much grippier. They are 5 seconds a lap faster than the semi slicks I had before.
I bought mine from tirerack and the service was brilliant, they arrived in 5 days and made sure the tyres were only a few months old for me.

Let us know if Michelin UK know anything about them now they are actually on their web site, somehow I doubt they will given past form

I stuck the 235 Cup NOs on the back of a VW I had with 19s, looked a bit odd but didn't want them going to waste

For anyone interested, I have just imported Michelin PSS 325's from Tirerack (USA). They were superb and I got the tyres within 7 days and the cost was GBP406 a tyre (Cost plus shipping plus import duties).

Compare local UK supplier for comparison, they are providing the fronts and they are taking 7 days from Cumbria to Chester...

Perfect, but if you don't want semi's then your sunk. Not a fan of semi-slicks for light road use, especially in UK.
