On my old engine was sure they kicked in about 1950 rpm but on new engine circa 2200rpm.

Wow. 250rpm difference and you've noticed it? Keep your eyes on the road innit.

Maybe you need to wear the engine in a bit more as it is fresh!

How are you finding it IMI?

They have a beautiful white 991 turbo at Hatfield.

Hi Nick, Saw the white turbo. Its v.nice but at that money think I'd have to go Italian. Top end the new engine definitely has more oomph and is smoother than before but up to 100 it feels a bit laggy to be honest. We should meet up one day and you can have a go and tell me what you think but you've probably forgotten how a stock car feels!

Hows your 3.8l coming along? Is it now run in and remapped. Can't wait to have a ride when its ready.

There have been loads of revisions to the 997 turbo VTGs since inception with even bigger ones (similar to GT2) used for the A91 engine, it could be that your new engine's blowers have bigger (or slightly different shaped) compressors than the original engine or other subtle differences which may make them run cooler at the 480PS rating with the trade off of the extra lag you have experienced.

Yes thought it may be something like this or maybe the latest OEM map for gen 1 997 t.

Hi Imi yes the car is coming along fine!

I am still running it in so it is not finished yet. I have only done 500miles in it and I want to do another 500 before I drive to Germany.

Then I will drive to Germany for the last 500 and have it fine tuned and running at full power.

I am hoping to have all this done sometime in January.

I don't mind meeting up with you to check the car out for you.

The only thing Italian that excites me is the F12 and that's double the price of the 991!
