Is there a limit as to the amount of time you can keep using one?

Due to the arrival of nap envy, I hadn't even opened the garage for a few months so last Saturday I decided I'd go for a spin, the battery only just had enough juice to get the engine to catch.

Are these chargers suitbale for just a few short weeks worth of top up rather than the more 'longer term' lay up?

I belive the charger you have is a rebadged C-TEK smart charger. They are designed as a fit and forget conditioning charger so anytime you are not using the car use the charger. Sometimes I find my 12v plug does not always engage in the 12v outlet of the car properly and the spring end does not always locate as it should and does sometimes disconect itself during charging. Cliping the charger to the battery terminal and the neutral to the chassis is probably more reliable than the push in sockets if you do not look in on the car on a regular basis. How old is the battery?

You may find that it is passed it's best, regardless of being on the charger continuously.

Ordinarily, CTek/Porsche conditioner / charger can be left on indefinitely. Mine is, through the cigarette lighter socket.

In the instructions of mine it said it can be attached indefinitely.

Would recommend it. My battery drained in 3 weeks during a cold snap and if you are wanting to keep under Porsche warranty the batteries don't come cheap!

This. Mine is on for long periods, 3-4 months over winter. Has been for 6 years now, still going strong, as is original battery.

Looks like the battery has had it in that case.

Wonder if Santa has a stock of Bosch silver tops.
