Swapping comforts for sports seats?

How hard is it to swap electric comfort seats for the sports seats in a 986 turbo? Direct replacement or do all the bases need swapping over as well?

How much would a decent set of sports seats cost?

Presume you mean a 996 turbo?

Can be done, sports seats come at various costs if you go for original fit GT3 seats or an aftermarket alternative like Recaro Pole Positions (Google it and you'll find threads and images).

The comfort seats do come with memory settings which means those buttons inside the door would be redundant. Just a consideration.

Is it worth it? The watercooled 'sports seats' that I have sat in cant hold a candle to proper Porsche Sports Seats. The accountant factor seems to have put paid to really good seats in Porsche cars now.

I was surprised the seats in a 996TT weren't as nice as my 944T sports seats.

Do you mean the fixed back recaro bucket type seat as per GT2 and GT3, if so pretty straight forward, expect to pay approx £1500 for a good used set. Was a pair up for grabs on here not long ago.

I presumed that they mean the hard backed leather seats which are a little more 'sporty' than the basic leather seats.

Well: 'tonbstones' is a much misused name.

Porsche Tombstones are actually the fully manual sports seats (in Porsche-speak sports seats have always been a conventional seat which has larger bolsters) which were fitted in cars up to around 1985. They have larger squab and side bolsters and differed from the conventional seat (which people now seem to be erroneously calling 'comfort') by having a wider headrest which made them look love a grave stone.

Very nice but I didn't feel they had as much side support as earlier sports seats.
