Received my auto renewal on Saturday from Aviva, its for my 981S and a 12 years old 525 on the same policy. Last year it was around £700 for both, and reading about insurance prices dropping I expected something similar...it came in a tenner under a grand. So an increase of >30% which they have never done in the past, always been pretty fair. I did the usual and eventually insured the 981S with Churchil for £213 and the 525 surprisingly was more with Lloyds at about £250, so all in less than £500. There were cheaper options but I didnt like the sound of some of their T&C's. Aviva didnt try to respond just said "thats a big difference" - oh and the excess in both cases with the new policies are miuch lower than Aviva. So as always, shop around chaps!
When I called aviva to 'discuss options' at renewal (also on a multicar policy) they magically found a discount to bring the price to within an inch of the cheapest. Excess remains a little higher and I don't like them not giving me their best price to begin with, but their reputation is industry-leading. One independent broker told me to go with them despite it not giving him business. Anyway sounds like you got a good deal and this time aviva's loss.
Yes, it's a mystery, car insurance. My renewal on my 991 Cab has gone up by 85p. It was £800 cheaper last year than my previous insurer and it's still the cheapest so I'm staying with them. Post Office sent a flyer saying they'd beat my renewal by £50, I asked for a quote and it was £605 more! So my insurance for next year will be £589. I'm 52 and in Manchester. Happy days.
