Windscreen slightly chipped - Advice needed ?

Hello - picked up my new 991 GT3 last week. Super car. Caught a little chip from some stone thrown up by car in front...marked slightly and chipped the windscreen. A small blemish but any idea of removing the chip on the screen ? Little annoyed. Thanks in advance.

If it's less than 2mm across (isn), keep it clean and get it filled in quickly. IPA will help clean it so the filler can bond properly.

If you're near him GlassMan on here would by my suggestion for a chip repair, IIRC your insurance will usually cover a chip repair FOC but if not it's not that expensive, obviously you'll still see the chip from the inside but it will stop it cracking.

If GlassMan isn't near you then use AutoGlass, whatever you do don't go anywhere near national windscreens, my 3 experiences of them were less than stellar, as they're a franchise the quality area to area varies massively.

Google a local independent. Should be able to fill it so it doesn't get any worse for about forty quid.

You will still be able to see it though.

Thanks everyone for the help. I will get it done after Boxing Day as everything is closed up now. The chip is tiny but to me frustratingly noticeable. Probably get it done at the OPC for ease. Happy Christmas to all.

Your opc will just charge a fortune and get AutoGlass or their equivalent so if you're paying, save the hassle and get AutoGlass out to your house/work/anywhere convenient.

Don't leave it, I did and one day 6 inch crack and resulted in a new screen!

Stick a small square of tape over the impact point. This will prevent any water ingress/contamination and make for a better repair.

this is a good idea but only if the blemish/crash isn't in the way of windscreen wipers...

Fair point, but we're only talking until it can be repaired. If it's on the surface it won't matter so much however, if there is a break behind the impact mark, it's better to keep any water (or windscreen wash etc) from penetrating into the damage.

believe it or not I managed good results with a Halfords repair kit on a couple of small chips I picked up. I emphasise small, there was no hint of cracking or "starring". They were cosmetic rather than windscreen threatening and totally disapperaed with the kit. Easy to use too.
