As the car is new Porsche Insurance don't have the car on their system. However the underwriters have quoted £1650 pa inc the tax

Is that expensive compared to the few lucky owners of the 991 GT3??

Thanks

if you live in London and are 18 years old that would be very cheap.

daft question as it's a post code and age lottery + the amount of NCB you have and points.

so quotes will range from £800 to 20k

Age 44, 13+ years provable NCB, other cars in household, garaged, living in the west country. Got daft quotes from my usual broker, cheapest they could get was £1700. Went onto moneysupermarket.com and they gave me a number of quotes, the cheapest was £612. Ended up taking one of their other quotes from a company with a good reputation for customer service. £1,003 including fully comp on multiple european trips per year.

Have done a few quotes around the £500 - £600 (Admiral) mark but will probably choose to insure with someone like Hiscox / Chubb etc and pay more for higher quality cover.

Agree about the boxes to be ticked

Age 50+ no claims car parked on drive
West London so higher risk

Will shop around and test the market

And am quite sure the only time the difference in premium will make itself known is when you have to try their claims service or find that all your options weren't covered.

Just make sure they are aware of the otr cost and all options on the car. yes

I also specified the feedom to choose a repairer of my choosing I.e. OPC in the event of a claim, without penalty.

Incidentally, on that low quote did they request Tracker be activated?

This is an interesting one...for my last three renewals i've discussed with various companies how my expensive factory options would be treated in the event the car was written off. I still have no idea. I just hope i never get to find out.

I have asked Porsche to requote
If it was £500 more expensive than Admiral I would stick for peace of mind
Admiral know its £121000 list price to me
Went through it in great detail as it does make me nervous
Have other brokers looking
Adrian Flux
AON private clients
Lets see what they say
If there are both miles off admiral I would worry
No track days ??? Not in my car - too much ££££

My understanding is that the minimum excess for track cover with Mannings is 10% of the vehicle - meaning that to track my car in the first year would see an excess of £12k+, and that is a huge risk I'm not prepared to take.

More reasonably I will try and find insurance cover that meets my day-to-day needs and seek one-off track cover as and when required!

Initially I'm tempted by taking some further instruction at the Porsche experience centre, and obviously there is always the option of paying to use one of their GT3's for that...

Pretty good prices, German insurance prices are scary for even dull cars, €7k for a mere regular Mk2 Gt3 about the best my pal could find.

Is 10% excess not standard for trackday cover?

Maybe.

But that's a valid reason for not tracking the 991 GT3 immediately!

The quotes I've received are:

Admiral - £640
Broker (Aviva) - £2,400
Porsche (Aviva) - £1,000

In all likelihood, I will go with Porsche. I think it includes a couple of track days with a 10% excess but they must be given notice in advance whereas Mannings offer unlimited track days with no notice. It would be interesting to learn whether the CS option makes a difference to premiums.

I wish I had the spare time to do track days and I will if I can but the 10% excess shouldn't out people off. In the past my OPC has always offered me cars for extended test drives. It appears they've had their fingers burnt and now have a £5k excess if unaccompanied by a salesman. I'd rather have a 10k excess on the track than a £5k excess on the road!

I've just been through the same thing, though not with a GT3. Even though the other insurers (like Admiral and Elephant etc) quoted quite a bit cheaper, however much you try to pin them down in advance about what happens in the event of an accident and the car going to Porsche to get fixed, there will in all likelihood, be a battle when the time came. Not worth it for a few hundred quid on a car that cost more than £100k IMHO

Not with Competition Car Insurance although the standard policy is limited to 5 track days per year.
