I'm interested to hear of first-hand experiences of what the new Pan S E-Hybrid is like to drive.
It interests me because of the Enhanced Capital Allowance (ECA) 100% write down for my business in first year and incredibly low company car tax. It makes for a very interesting proposition, but wonder what it's really like to drive. I have read the reviews which are broadly favourable but do comment on extra weight, however I imagine it's still nicer to drive and be in than the other "Germans".

Pope - yes, planning to drive one. There's a few around. I've been busy driving a range of things: Cayenne DV6, Cayenne DV8, Panamera D, Range Rovers etc. Thought I was going Cayenne DV8 or RR SDV8, but the bik on the Pan S E-Hybrid and 100% writedown is really hard to ignore.I just wondered what people really thought if anyone has driven one, as they are different from the first hybrids and current Cayenne Hybrid. I had a Pan D for a week and really enjoyed driving it, so wondered with extra weight but more power and better perf figs what fellow petrolheads really thought of it as a real world day-to-day motorway basher. Pleasant, liveable etc?

Driven a hybrid Cayenne, and diesel Panamera for a few days each. I didn't get on with the hybrid. It wasn't particularly frugle on fuel, and the transition from battery to fuel wasn't as smooth as I'd hope for - actually quite jolty at times. The diesel Panamera on the other hand was a very nice drive, smooth, quick enough and sounded quite nice for a diesel lump. The hybrid didn't feel particularly sluggish, but I haven't driven a diesel Cayenne to compare.
I test drove one last month at Swindon and have ordered one.Like you say,the ECA and car tax benefits are hard to ignore.I have done 50,000 miles in nearly two years in my M5,and it seems a bit of a waste to spend that much time using it on a motorway.
Panamera acceleration is quite good and it is quite comfortable-I have chosen 19 inch wheels.This version handles better than previous model-I think air suspension is now standard on it. think of it as an S class alternative.
And it is not a diesel.
Do think,however,that as a private purchase it is too expensive.

Agree not viable as a private purchase.
Obviously livable with compare with M5?! Does it feel heavy and cumbersome, or really in league of S Class luxo barge alternative? And when making from e-mode to engine does it thump in or is its seamless and progressive?
Dd you test drive on 19"s or on 20/21"s and decide it was too firm?

Actually,the reason for purchase was the realisation that today's sportscars are so much better than a decade ago that an M5,CLS63 etc will always be a compromise.Better to have a luxury car and a fun car.
Panamera is better than previous S class;have not driven a new model one.Demo was on 20" wheels I think.Chose 19" because all weather tyres are an option,and it makes swapping to winters no chore any more.I have never been a fan of big wheels for aesthetic reasons only.Ride on demo was ok.
Electric only really noticeable when charging continuously with the engine.When charging under braking,it is not noticeable.The V6 is not the best sounding,but better than a diesel.The facelift does improve things!

I had a new Panamera S E-Hybrid on loan for about 10 days whilst waiting for my Cayenne GTS to arrive. Here are my thoughts...
Impressed - 84mph on batteries alone without even starting the engine - very impressive - makes you feel like Knight Rider
I was very impressed by the tech - to think that a 2 tonne barge like this can be driven in purely electric mode is amazing. Also the way that it can fully recharge the batteries in about half an hour of motorway driving is just unbelievable. As a hybrid drive, I can't imagine there is anything better out there, that offers what the Panamera does - perhaps the Cayenne but haven't driven a hybrid version.
You can charge up via a 3-pin plug at home which I believe takes about 3 to 4 hours. So if you lived within 5 or 6 miles of work, you could fairly easily drive on electric all the time and enjoy a fantastic mpg equivalent. The supercharged 3.0 v6 engine is ok too - in fully charged max power mode out goes well and sounds ok too - but to be honest this car isn't about that - don't think of it as a mini 918 - but marvel in its technologically advanced drivetrain
I don't think you'll be disappointed. It's not an M car equivalent - it doesn't try to be. If it makes financial sense then I'd say go for it. They have one at Portsmouth OPC if you're looking for a test drive and they're a friendly bunch there. If you have any more Qs then just ask
