So I threw mine away and I am in the middle of a debate ( argument ) with a friend and I need one of these centre bolts biggrin

Anyone got a spare one that they're willing to send! Trying to find one is near impossible.

Hi, what do you need to know?

I may have a spare one as we have been developing a new IMS bearing for the double row version that is superior than stock and does not cost the earth.

Will take a look tomorrow.

Oh cool. I thought the bearing was an off the shelf SKF type thing job? Or is that the newer thinner one?

We're arguing about the shape and how in a worst case scenario it can crack.

If you have PP I can cover postage smile

Hi, the later 996 engine from around 1999-2000 had a single row fitted as did boxster. The early 996 engines had a double row bearing, which is not an off the shelf unit, unless you used a much smaller width bearing and packed it out. We have actually seen some single row bearings fitted and a 12mm spacer fitted behind the bearing then glued into the shaft, needless to say this is a disaster waiting to happen at best! The one we are using is a very high quality SKF double bearing that is roughly 3mm narrower than the standard version but we use a spirolock retaining circlip to secure the bearing in the factory retaining groove and make a 3mm shim for the original housing to make up the correct alignment gap and support the centre of the bearing.

This has taken some time to acquire the bearings and machine a first run. We are happy with the results and will be up and ready for next month with 10sets of single and double row bearings on the shelf, we are going to make them affordable and advise a 40000 mile service inspection/replacement schedule.

Will check tomorrow and see what is around, do you need a good one or a broken one?
