Cayenne Airbag Light

Hi Guys
I've had my 2005 V6 Cayenne into a local 4x4 specialist to have the usual water drains & aircon overflow cleared out due to the recent wet weather - and water settling in the foot wells (both front and rear). They've also had the passenger seat out to help dry the wet carpets.
All was going to plan until they stated that the airbag light had come on while doing the work, and they needed until this morning to reset. It now transpires that they've had a 'specialist' airbag company out today and the module is u/s. They are claiming this is down to water damage. Now if this is the case, then that's all well and good (unfortunate but my problem). But having ran a quick Google search I can't find any similar scenarios, and in fact most results would lead me to think the more likely scenario is that they've triggered this upon seat removal.
Anyone have any words of wisdom before I take this up with them tomorrow am? I want to be fair, as is my way, and if this is water damage I'm happy to accept responsibility - but will there be any way of actually knowing? Just seems a little odd that the light only came on whilst in their possession. Any opinions greatly appreciated.

On any car it's important not to switch on the ignition at any time when any of the SRS components (e.g. airbag or seatbelt pre-tensioner) are disconnected, otherwise the car may show a fault, which may or may not be self-cancelled the next time the ignition's switched on once the fault's rectified.
So, if the fault wasn't there before and they've had a seat out I'd be suspicious. I'd also want to know that the car has been looked at with proper Porsche diagnostics, which a Porsche specialist should have but a generic 4x4 place may not.
