Problem with window auto drop on 996tt

Hi,

Suddenly my passenger door window will not drop down the required amount to shut the door by itself.

Really starting to annoy me now so need to get this fixed...

The window does not drop if you open the door from either outside or inside. The interior lights come on as normal and the window functions as normal BUT I have lost the one touch raise on the passengers side too.

I have tried the normal reset procedure - hold down to limit then 10 secs hold release and 10 sec hold but this will not reset the upper limit. The lower limit (1 touch) works fine.

Having done a good bit of searching I am still unsure of what part to buy to fix.

Do I need just the microswitch or a new door lock assembly with the interal microswitches?

Any help much appreciated as its doing my head in!

I had a similar issue with my passenger door window last year. It tends to be either the regulator or the motor. Unfortunately they are both quite pricey... In my case I needed a new window motor, which cost me a few hundred quid to have supplied and fitted at my local OPC.

Do you think it is motor or reg even though the window goes up an down correctly and will not be forced down with pressure??

If the window is working it is most likely the microswitch in the door handle or a corroded connection like I had, you will have to remove the door card to get to it, I have done it diy, but if you are not hands on an Indy will do it, its not a big job

Not sure. Mine tended to either not drop at all or periodically drop to far when the door was opened. When I then tried to close it it dropped further. It was a real pain trying to get it shut. It certainly didn't open and close correctly. Maybe that suggests you have a problem with the reg rather than the motor. I actually found my local OPC were quite helpful in doing an initial diagnosis without charging me. Good luck getting it sorted.
