3 year old 997 and have suddenly started to get really heavy condensation inside the windscreen. I have not made any changes to the heating controls and always use aircon. Matts are not wet and nothing stored in car (apart from a small toy dog).

You probably have a leak or a blocked drain somewhere

Has it just started to do this? If so its possibly a leak. These cars, however, are quite prone to atmospherics and will condensate easily particularly if only used for short journeys or infrequently.

If you are content that everything is dry inside, then put it down to this.

Same issue here...

Everything is dry and the roof is watertight.

I don't think that it's anything to worry about.

I've been getting this over the winter - but have been able to use the car more for longer trips over the last couple of weekends and it's stopped doing it - so think for me it's just needing more use to reduce the moisture.

Your A/C doesn't work below 3c so it won't demist as well as normal below this temp.

I've got 3 cars like that at the moment. Look around a car park when the temperatures drops, you'll see plenty more. It's not surprising really when you consider that the average humidity level has been close to 100% for weeks now.

It looks like winter has been replaced by autumn this year frown

Fill a plastic bottle with rice, put some holes in bottle, leave in car for few days?

My wife's Boxster is been terrible for this. We returned it to the OPC in Reading because it started leaking. They diagnosed a split/fractured drain pipe behind the passenger seat so replace that pipe and cleaned all the drain pipes as goodwill warranty but it still mists up terribly. So I know it's not leaking but despite clear drains and running the air con etc. it still does it.

I didn't realise this but all the same it's been 6-7DegC most days here in Berkshire this winter.

OK, thanks everyone. Sounds like a combination of things being the weather and car has been stood for long periods as I have been on holiday and only using it for a few short trips since I got back. Sounds like I need to take it out this weekend for a long run.......what a chore smile

Same here with 996T. Only used for short journeys. No leaks and no wet carpets.

I have started to think it's normal.

Mine also - Cayenne and 996 turbo have both been doing it for about a month. Even my normal demisting trick (washing up liquid) isn't working because the screen is getting so wet, not just misted up.

Mine was so wet the other day I needed a towel to soak it all up, also getting it pretty badly in my wife's BMW which is new so I am assuming its the weather and lots of short trips.

This is precisely it, but I was under the impression that the temperature below which ac does not operate was even higher than that, something like 5C, and of course the sensor and everything else may not be perfectly calibrated.

Try putting the heater settings to a higher temp and blast more air directly at the screen rather than leave settings on auto, should do it, as it always did before every car was fitted with aircon!

How big a bag? How often do you have to dry it out in the house?

It only works once, absorbing not all that much moisture, then you need to cook it to reactivate it.

Huge con when sold for anything other than placing in sealed packaging.

It's quite a big bag...... Probably around the size of a bag of sugar and once a month I pop it into the oven for a short while. I bought the bag via amazon.......seems to work ok for me........
