Quick qu, about 'any' red coolant OK in 996TT?

Hi, my coolant in my new-to-me stock 6T is a touch low - the expansion tank has pink stuff in it.

Checking the history file previous coolant used apparently includes 'G30' red and unspecified 'OE' coolant in various invoices. I have 5 litres of expensive Toyota premixed long life red coolant in the garage. It appears to have 'G3I'(or maybe G31) on the side but no other ID. I am nowhere near an OPC.

So, obvious question is..

Have searched but it is all jolly confusing, especially when you look at replies from our cousins across the pond..

I think the volkswagen stuff works, check the codes recommended, but I think its ok.

Unfortunately it's not just "any" coolant nowadays, there are different types. Colour is meaningless.

Does not have to be OEM, but to save you some hassle and money after a lot of research I used Glysantin G40. https://www.google.com/search?q=Glysantin+G40 and specifically http://www.glysantin.de/170-1-G40.html

You could work the other way round and "select" a coolant and check whether it is approved by Porsche for the 996.

In the interim, adding some distilled water won't harm anything.

Thanks for the help, glad I didnt assume that red with red was always OK. OK I might have got away with it but would be miserable if I wrecked my new steed's cooling innards for the sake of a few bob. Will get some DI water and top up, and monitor it to see if I am losing coolant first (wondered why the car was cheap, LOL etc.).

Yes, point of question is to find something that is compatible with in-situ OEM coolant (without gelling) as well as having the correct blend of stuff (silicon and oats, or something like that) that favour the innards of Porsche cooling systems. Apparently.

Never had to worry about this sort of thing with the 356 and 964, yawn >Insert tired observation about aircooled Porsches being better here<

There is no connection between "lifetime" and everything that comes after it.

Great price great find even wholesale I paid more for G40 in 1.5l bottles.

Don't forget the distilled water to go with it!
