997.1 C2S IPE Exhaust sound
Discussion
Unfortunately, I've no experience of the IPE, but it seems to be well regarded on 6Speed.
As for alternatives.....
On the 997S.1 I used to own, I installed a full AWE system (manifolds, 200-cell cats and silencers). Great build quality & fit, superb sound and a very noticeable performance increase - starting as a lot more torque in the mid range and sustained all the way to the red line. Whilst it didn't quite meet AWE's claims, an increase of 23 BHP (wheels) over standard wasn't too shabby at all! A drop-in BMC filter element was also needed to get this result (the filter contributing to a much sharper throttle response).
The system was also MOT friendly with the 200-cells. My car passed 3 consecutive tests with no issues.
Highly recommended.

How much was the exhaust system and who did you use as a supplier, I will have a gander.
Cheers
Hi Bossitt,
I can't say i've had much experience of the 997 IPE system, but i can tell you that i do run a QuickSilver Exhaust on my 996 C4 and that it's perhaps my favourite addition to the car. I did request one of their more aggressive sounding set-ups and that's certainly what i got but i know they have a couple of options with regard to decibel level and that the quality it really very impressive (plus they save a great deal of weight over the rear axle), i have attached a an image of one back box next to the OEM system so you can see for yourself and a link to video of the car on You Tube so you can hear it too. I would buy this again, and as i'm planning on upgrading to a turbo soon will do just that!

My apologies, but I can't remember now if I bought the AWE system directly from AWE in the States or whether I was directed to a UK supplier. Unfortunately, when I sold the exhaust on (4 years ago now) I also gave the original paperwork to the new owner so I've nothing to refer back to. I do remember that the person I corresponded with at AWE was their CEO (or should that be 'President' in the USA?) Todd Sager.
Full details of the AWE system for the 997S.1 can be found here:

There are pics, a video and power/torque graphs. As I mentioned in my earlier post we didn't quite match AWE's claims, but I did see a max power improvement of 23BHP (wheels) at about 6500rpm. The biggest torque gain was between approx. 4000rpm & 5000rpm - this was VERY noticeable in how the car drove on the road.
