A few questions about Bluetooth in an 03 996 Turbo...
Discussion
Hi,
I've done the search, but can't seem to get a definitive answer. I want to add Bluetooth connectivity to my 03 Turbo fitted with factory PSM 2. I'm not bothered about the music, more for the phone with radio mute(iPhone 5s).
Which is the best unit for this, does it mean I can still use the CD changer?
I don't want to go down the replacement/upgrade route as I want to keep it standard.
Your thoughts and advices would be appreciated.
I've just started using a different solution, which is working very well indeed, and needs nothing touching on the car.
With Orange as a business customer, you can get a second SIM on the same number for £3/month (it's branded Single Number). Put this in the car's SIM slot, and ask Orange to configure it so that this SIM rings first where available. That way, when the ignition's on, the car will always ring first, when it's off your normal handheld phone will ring - it's all seamless and automatic.

The simple fix is to use the SIM slot in the phone module itself, which is under the driver's seat (I think - one of the seats anyway!). Get a PAYG SIM from GiffGaff or similar, and set up a couple of codes as favourites on your phone to execute a redirect. When you get in the Porsche for any length of time, just hit the "redirect to Porsche" link, and then the "cancel redirect" link when you get out of the car; simple!
Ok, it isn't as convenient as using a Bluetooth setup, but for the occasions when I use my 996 for work, it is good enough to make sure I can receive urgent calls. I did have to think about things like voicemail though. In the end, I decided to just have a message on my car number saying "you've been redirected to my car, and I can't take your call - please send me an SMS!" rather than have to think about two VM mailboxes.
