Coral Red 964RS
Discussion
I've got a loose 170 large lying around ready for just this kind of bonkers purchase - I might pop down there tomoz and fling it at the good men of Malton. Then razz the mother to within an inch of death and use it as was intended but never will be again - smoke the tyres, burn off some oil and stretch the suspension!

It's not a lot of money, it's a ridiculous amount of money - granted its a one off colour (in this country) and its really low miles for the age, but come on, it's well north of any other 964rs that's been on the market recently. SCoM have some lovely stuff and there seems to be lots of positive things said about them (and probably for good reason), but they have had cars like the R-Gruppe one for years at top whack.
Proof of the pudding will be someone actually lashes out £170k on it and then SCoM will be laughing and demo starting they know considerably more about market values than mere goons such as myself.......

£170k now that's allot of money one off colour or not ..
That's not a lot of money. To us yes, but to those that buy £2 million Holland Park homes now worth £15 - 20 million and let the weeds grow through the floors (I've seen it) because money makes money and they sit on something till it does. 140K is nothing for something that will appreciate even more over time if left long enough.I wish I could do SCOM business model, and fair play to them for it.

SCM know their business extremely well...
As do all the other RS Specialists.
When the price is 170K, no doubt some enthusiast with money to burn will buy the car. In five years time, it will probably be worth double !!
You are very right on that score - in years to come it will be worth £170k - and yes, all RS's will increase in value over the next few years - if you can afford to wait 10 years £170k may seem a shrewd purchase - after all I hope the same will be the case with my car (albeit at a lower level). However, £170k is quite a step from current pricing. It's the same with the 996 GT3 Mk1 on for £58k at the moment - in 10 years time, granted, it will be a stealAs do all the other RS Specialists.

However, makes you wonder if there's a bit of a bubble forming - I know it's been mentioned elsewhere in other media - some of prices cars are on for at the moment 'seem' inflated.
As with ALL limited Editions, that are made in small manufacturing ''runs'' then it is very easy for two or three dealers to get together and raise up prices, sometimes dramatically.
Sometimes it doesnt work, as with a couple of unheard of clowns offering BMW Z editions at ridiculous prices and a wannabee inflating AMG E60 cars, but generally it pays off.
Look at BMW CSL 3.2 Batmobiles, going from 20K to 100K in four years !!
Mercedes Evolution 2's -30K up to 70K
BMW M3 Evo Sports 30K to 80K.....

On the money. The investors are actually not interested these lesser cars. But those who think they might be able to hang onto the coattails of the high rollers are. And that second tier is what I think maps most closely to the speculators who got burned in the late '80s. They don't have the spare cash to hold onto the cars when the market turns and thus will have to unload their cars before the market collapses.Sometimes it doesnt work, as with a couple of unheard of clowns offering BMW Z editions at ridiculous prices and a wannabee inflating AMG E60 cars, but generally it pays off.

I think that's the point. The investors don't buy cars to drive.
As such, when the wave of price increases stalls, it actually goes into reverse.
Because potential profit was the motive and the herd instinct takes over ...
But the Coral car is still lovely, and it was genuinely a very very rare colour.
Lovely to my eyes ... but ... that's why I photographed it against a yellow field !
