Porsche 'strongly considering manual option' for 991 GT3RS

I don't know if this has been posted on here already (if it has, I'm an ass and my apologies).

There's a thread on 6Speed (that links to a blog at Car&Driver in the good ol' US of A) where C&D claim they've been told Porsche is 'strongly considering' making a manual transmission available on the RS.

Has anyone on here who's close enough to Porsche heard anything similar? Or is this story likely to be no more than hearsay/rumour?
