I'm sorry this is only half a story for now but I thought I'd share it anyway. It's on a list of various legal updates from a motor-trade focused law firm - I don't have any more information (such as whether it's a Porsche specialist or just a general dealer) but here's what they wrote:

Porsche bore-scoring. A defect or fair wear and tear?
Could we be about to get a ruling from a court?
...We are dealing with a complaint that the engine within a Porsche suffered from cylinder bore scoring despite a relatively a low mileage.
It looks certain that a District Judge is going to have to rule on this issue in the near future as one of our clients seeks to argue that it is caused by wear and tear and is not a defect. Whilst it is not appropriate to articulate in such an open forum the detail behind that argument, we will be keen to know what the court’s decision on the matter will be and one that we will share with .. members.
