Porsche museum

Having lived in Zurich for over 2 years I am finally going to visit the Porsche museum in Stuttgart...... In a BMW
For those who have been before, how long did you spend there, is it an all day affair or a 2 hour wonder ?
If a 2 hour affair, any suggestions on other things to do.
It's just going to be a day trip(3.5 hour drive each way) but while I'm there....

Mercedes museum is near and well worth a visit

I went in September 2012. Probably a 2 hour affair to be honest but still very very good. Grab the train over to the Merc museum which is also very good and only 20-30 min journey from Porsche.

We were there recently. Well worth the trip, but it is only a couple hours. There is a nice restaurant upstairs as well if you're into that. I would recommend the Mercedes museum as well, which is brilliant and not too far away from Porsche.

Porsche museum is great.

Mercedes museum is unmissable. It is so much than just cars. Since Benz was around since the very beginning, it is like the history of motoring.

It also has very interesting exhibits about what was going at various points in history. The part describing Mercedes role in employing Jewish slaves during WW2 was enlightening.

We were in there for a couple of hours on a guided tour which was just brilliant. The guides just new so much

3-4 hours tops, saying that I had the O/H with me so didn't spend as long as I'd like, some beautiful cars but some stuff that isn't that interesting either.

Couple of hours. While the cars are very significant indeed I found the Museum very sterile and not a lot of history...virtually no sense of the drivers,ot video of cars in action. As a museum, Mercedes much better

Why don't you try and contact Porsche for a factory tour, then do the Museum afterwards. That would be a good 4 to 6 hours easily.
