Fitting A Tequipment Roll Bar

Hi all, this weekend I will be attempting to fit the tequipment roll bar to my 996.1

I have watched the video on youtube showing how it's done to a 2004 gt3.... does anyone on here have any other hints or tips on helping this process go smoother ??? maybe something that is not covered in the video or even an easier way to fit it ???

Any help would be appreciated...

Remember reading somewhere that they used luggage straps to compress the frame in order to help lining everything up, might be useful.

seats out.
run the bolts into the holes a few times.
tape over your sills.
'pop' cage in.
use ratchet straps if you need to squeeze the cage to fit.
be sure to put the bolts in straight and not cross thread.
seats in.

Afternoon lads, thanks for the replies. We got the cage and GT3 buckets in yesterday. Absolute doddle.

We still have the harnesses to go in but we'll fit them next week. I've removed the seats as I'm having a couple of tiny imperfections sorted this week.

Anyway here are a couple of pics -

Cobra seats to come out. Drivers already out in 1st pic -

Recaro in. Had to trial fit the drivers one first to check I could fit. I'm 6ft 5 so I was slighty worried about not being able to get the seat back far enough with the cage in. No problem at all though.



Anyway, should be all refitted including the harnesses by next weekend. It probably took about 3 hours, just taking it easy and that includes cutting away the plastic sill trims under the carpet to enable the cage legs to fit at the mounting points.

Have you got the harness bar for the anti-submarining straps fitted under the seats too?

Was going to ask if you worked out you needed to trim the plastic under the carpet :-)

Farque, here's a few pics I took just before starting the process....









Jackwood, everything came with the seats and cage, the 'submarine' bars were fitted to the seats already... Lucky Find to be honest !!! Think Marky911 explained everything else in a previous thread.... :-)

I'm not sure... I like them 1 minute then hate them the next.... I will be putting the cobra seats back in the car if I sell it... Can't make my mind up... Just dropped the wheels off today for powder coat but can't decide on colour... Black again or dark-ish grey... Going on Photoshop later and will see what it looks like... I'm crap at making decisions !! Only time will tell...

The graphics should have gone ages ago if you ask me.

They spoil an otherwise mint and sorted car.
The wheels are away being refurbished as we speak. I said get them done satin grey with maybe some grey Carrera or Cayman R style Porsche side scripts and lose the black roof and bonnet. A bit like Crimpy's GT3.

I think Craig is sticking with what's there though.
