Importing UK car from Germany

Hi

I am looking at a car in Germany that was originally delivered in the UK and exported. It is still on its UK registration papers even though it has been in Germany a few years.

Does anyone know if there would be any issues with bringing the car back to the UK in terms of duty/ customs/ VAT etc or what papers are needed?

if it is still UK registered then you can bring it back to the UK and change ownership in the normal way - just check lights/speedo have not been swapped

Also : No tax issues since it is second hand. VAT is only payable at point of sale of NEW goods.

Check for theft in UK - this is important, nicked motors often find a home abroad or owner could have HP on it - usual checks really.
