I couldn't find a specific mention of how to turn it off, but there is some good info here....

The engine check light is an indication of a failure of some sort. I got it three times over due to a failed lambda sensor.

Your engine might be OK but something is ed and you'd best get it looked at!

If whatever fault set off the light is not detected again after a number of drive cycles the computer will turn off the light. If you cannot wait then disconnect the negative cable for the battery for a few minutes. When you hook up the batytery the light will be off if it is an emission related fault. But if the computer sees the fault again the light will come back on.

At least that is how it works on a US car with OBDII.
