2 is one betterer than 1... it's (allegedly) a revision in that specific tyre model.

depends :-)

the Super sports which are N rated are N0 and they would be better than the PS2 in N4 :-)

but yes the number is just a later revision of the tyre which should be better.

Well, N3's don't wear as well as N2's if that's any help.

Tyres for Porsche are rated either N0, N1, N2, N3 or N4. There is no specific difference between them other than the lower the N number then the earlier they have passed Porsche quality testing for a specific vehicle. Once they test a newer tyre it gets the higher number. For instance the Michelin PS2 305/30/R19 exists as both N1 and N2, but N1 is no longer in supply.

For example the current 'rated' tyres for my 997 for Summer on 19" Turbo wheels are:

Bridgestone Potenza RE050A N1
Michelin Pilot Sport 2 N2
Pirelli P-Zero Rosso N1
Pirelli P-Zero N2

Or for my Winter tyres on 18" Carrera III:

Nokian WR N0
Pirelli Winter 240 Sottozero Serie II N1

The highest I've seen is N6 (Pirelli I think), but they could be on a higher number by now.
