964 RSR and 993 Cup at Auction...

Was hoping to go along to see how the Auction went but meetings got in the way. Did anybody get chance to attend yesterday?

I went, though wasn't there at the very start (was there before lot 10 though). It wasn't all that well attended and many cars got no bids. I got the impression the auctioneer wasn't all that familiar with classic cars (though it is a very broad market to know), and probably usually deals with antiques etc.

There was even one "no reserve" car that failed to sell - an old Volvo 240 (I think it'd been in Hollyoaks) which he trotted up to £650 then said "not sold". How frustrating would that be as a seller?!

After the sale I overheard someone who I presume was the owner/manager of the business on the phone saying there were 25 registered bidders, but 22 were dealers (like me, and I hadn't gone to buy anything really but it always seems a good idea to have a bidding number just in case). I hope they get better attendance and results next time, in May. The venue was nice and the cars well presented.

Simon, I already replied on pcgb - I must have missed you Marcus (met you thru Boxsey I think at Oulton) - I was the bloke dribbling all over Vic's old car :-)
