A GT3 RS, some mountains and dubious tyres

Right, so at the moment i'm contemplating taking the RS to the swiss alps at the end of april as part of a longer trip. Now at the moment it is on pilot sport cups (the earlier N1s) and was wondering if anyone had noticed a difference with the newer n2's in adverse weather conditions. As a concept I love the idea which would tie up nicely with some quality driving after my ski trip. Anyone think this is a remotely good idea or should I sack it off without pondering any further? gen 2 if anyone is asking

If you are taking it on the 'road' and there's no track-time, then get some 'road' tyres.

I'd get another wheelset, possibly 1 inch less, put some decent modern tyres on it and drive it in the real world.

Bear in mind that most of the fun stuff (i.e. the mountain passes) will still be closed in April..

As above. I have just come back from the Alps and there is still plenty of snow around so you need winter tyres!

Yes, I think they open in June, weather permitting. In July there was still a fair bit of snow in places, though by the side of the road due to it having been cleared.

Amazing scenery, definitely worth doing at least once, but the driving may not be that amazing on the passes, and the Swiss cops aren't to be messed with.

If you have the time and inclination, Tuscany offers better driving, download any of the several historic Mille Miglia routes to a trekking GPS or smartphone with an app such as Locus on it, and follow the route.

Yeah, going to have an extensive look into what's open. I drove quite a bit of the route i'm doing last year a week earlier and whilst there was snow on the sides of the road in places it was mostly 20 degrees and toasty. Mostly worried about tyres, can you fit smaller wheels without affection suspension and stuff? Rears are 325 which is the problem for finding a more suitable tyre.
