Could someone offer some advice on the Porsche hands free phone module please?

From what I can gather the module requires a dash inserted SIM card. Whilst I appreciate I could buy a pay-as-you go SIM for about £5 I would quite like a copy of my normal phone SIM.

Does anyone know how much this costs and how much the mobile companies sting you for this pleasure in monthly rental? After 20mins trying to get through to a call centre for singlepoint I gave up!!

Thanks

I believe, when I asked Vodafone about it a few months ago, that you can get a duplicate SIM designed for in-car use and that it was a pretty minimal fee (ten or fiftenn quid). It's called 'multisim'.

There's some stuff about it here:

Go to www.vodafone.co.uk and type "multisim" into the search box.

I used to work for a Vodafone Service provider who offered multisim. Not all SP's offer multisim.
It costs between £5-£15 per month depending on who your SP is.
Not all tariffs can use multi sim and I understand if you are on an inclusive minutes tariff you will need to also change your tariff.
Multi SIM works by you nominating which SIM card you want to receive calls on by dialing a short code in your handset to enable and disable that particular phone.
Because your multi sim is allocated a 'secret' number which sits behind your usual number you can actually make calls from it without having to enable it,(although VF tell you you shouldnt)
Works well - however can be frustrating when you have missed calls because you have forgotten to re enable the sim card on the phone nearest to you.

Hope you find this of some use.

Also unless I am mistaken you will need to find a credit card size adopter for the mini sim which fit in phones these days as if I remember correctly the Porsche takes a large SIM card format.

PCM2 takes the small SIM. Note that multisim doesn't work with GPRS -- you can have one or the other.
