991 Sport Design to Multifunction Wheel Change

Does anyone know if it is possible to swap the sport design wheel to multifunction wheel?

Also if you have the sport design is using the PCM unit the only way to change stereo volume of flick through tracks or is there a stalk on the steering column? If there is what is it like to use?

Volume control knob is the only way to change the volume on mine with the Sport Design wheel. You can flick through the tracks on the iPod using the right hand stalk, as the tracks can be displayed in the right hand dial (where vehicle info, phone info, etc appears). This is on a 981 Boxster, PCM 4.3

Thanks, do you find you miss having control of stereo, phone etc on the wheel? (presuming you had this on previous vehicles)

I missed controls for the stereo at first, but the Sport Design Wheel is a delight to handle. I'd definatley spec it again.

One thing that does bug me though is when you press "source" for AM or FM it only flashes up for a short length of time for you to make the selection.

Yes, I did have a multi function wheel in previous cars but no I can't say that I miss it. I don't really play around with the music whilst on the move and rarely get a phone call whilst in the car so it works for me. The Sport Design wheel looks so much better (IMO) than the standard or multi function wheel and if you have PDK then it's a necessity in order to get the paddles too.

I miss the rain sensitive wipers far more than the wheel (why I didn't spec that I'll never know)

I had sport wheel on my 991 and would not have it any other way. Just much better looking than the other wheels and paddles for me were and remain an absolute must.

As for the radio the cabin of a 911 is so small I dont think you will miss the volume button.. is really just there and you can adjust it easily.. not that I had to do it very often. As for the phone function you can answer with a flick of a lever behind the wheel controlling the little screen you have in the dashboard.. actually you can even control the radio functions through that lever if you really wanted.. you just flick through the menus and get to the audio one and can chose radio stations from there with the names appearing on the little screen.

I must say I just answered the phone and checked other infos like fluids temperatures with that screen, occasionally sat nav directions.

As for rain sensing whipers it should just be standard. I just don't get why it's not. I can understand the electrochromatic mirrors.. but not the rain sensors on a 80-100k car. I had to pass quite a few cars when buying mine used b/c they didnt have it.
