A/C regas on 997

hi all

my 997 is coming up to 9yrs of age and i've owned it for 2yrs. In this time I haven't had the A/C re-gassed.

During the winter I drive the car with ECO on as I don't need the A/C.

My sister told me an OPC near her were offering this for £120.

Is it worth getting done?

Worth getting it done, but save yourself some cash and take it to Kwik fit or ATS, I would normally support going to your OPC but for something as simple as plugging in a re-gassing machine pretty much anywhere can do a competent job.

Kwik fit and ATS will only charge you £30-40 ish so good value in comparison.

Additionally if it's found that you have a leak in your a/c system you won't be charged at all.

In my experience, if everything is hunky-dory you should never need a re-gas. If you do, you have a problem that needs sorting first.

Either way, £120 is ludicrous.

If the air-con works, it means you have sufficient pressure in the system. When the pressure drops the compressor should not even cut in, there is a pressure switch, to prevent the compressor getting damaged through lack of lube that is mixed with the gas.
