I wanted to share my experience today using OPC in

A bit of background, last summer I bought some poverty pork, a1999 C2 manual cab that had been meticulously maintained by the guy selling it who had spent 7k in the previous few thousand miles at his local OPC ().
After buying the car I always intended to use the same dealer as they knew the car well and I intended to keep up on any maintenance and repairs.
Today the car was serviced (minor) brake fluid change and a new key head as the remote had packed up.
No major worries and the car received a clean bill of health from the dealer.
When I returned home I was disappointed to find:
1. The new key head was wrong ( no second button for the remote operation of the roof) - the car was driven by the service reception guy from the back of the dealer to meet me at the front of the building (engine left running) so I only spotted the issue with the key when I got home and took the key out of the ignition and went to lock the car.
2. The car was wet when I received it at the dealer and after drying off on the drive home I noticed 3 long scratches across the passenger front wing (headlamp to almost the end of the wing).
3. When I started the car later I noticed the oil level indicator (on the dash) was to the top (over the max). After checking the level on the dipstick it showed the engine had been over filled with oil.
To summarise the outcome; OPC said they would replace the key head with the right part for "free" laughable really which they have done after driving back to the dealer (120 mile round trip). Oil level corrected and I polished the life out of the wing which has vastly improved the scratches.
I noticed some lovely cars in there such as a very clean 993 and 996 C4S being serviced, I just wonder if they'll receive such a disappointing service.
This was the first and last time I'll be using this OPC

Had similar issues with the OPC in question.
Won't be visiting them again. When I saw them the bill was well over £1.5k on servicing and various consumables, so not a small amount. However service I received was dire!
I have a £1500 hyundai which I use as my daily drive to get me to station and back, and the service I receive from my local hyundai dealership is far superior, and I'm only usually in there for minor stuff costing a fraction of what I spent at Porsche.

I just wondered that's all. Years ago when I worked as a valeter at VW the salesmen quite often came round to the wash bay to give the car a quick "rinse" to hide a scratch or two. ClarkPB said:

Is there a more dishonest trade than the motor trade, it seriously seems to be full of thieves, fraudsters, chancers and patronising pricks!AndyBrew said:

I work in the motor trade and the majority of those who I have to deal with are actually honest and professional, but there are some I'd definitely avoid too...

my cayman is due its 1st service where do i take it where it will not be abused i am on the south coast and no its not going to my local dealer for sure. what price do i expect to pay for a ist service only oil,filter and pollon filter i shouldnt think they will be arsed with the visual checks, some of peoples bills on here are silly money. i feel like taking my chances and going elsewhere stuff the warranty.
My other hobby is boats if you think porche are theives try dealing with the marine trade dick turpin comes to mind. think of a number and double it

I've dealt with Cardiff Porsche for the last 12 months & so car I've found them good to deal with, although I never accept the service wash as I know that some 'valeters' don't care how they wash your car.
I've had my other car, a 12 year old Golf GTI Turbo, serviced by the supplying VW dealership all it's life. However over the last couple of years the service has been disgraceful & I know that the car doesn't get looked after like it should by them. The car has been remapped & every time it goes in for a service, there is a queue of the younger trainee technicians wanting to test drive it. I have to insist that it doesn't go for a test drive as I don't want a scrote redlining it at every opportunity.
It's due a service soon & am wondering whether to try a local specialist instead.

South Coast is quite 'long'. Can you narrow that down for us at all?Mid Sussex OPC to keep the warranty.
Worth getting to clarify what they mean by 'valet'
A "traditional" valet is just a deep clean of the car, it wont remove scratches from the paintwork.
If they are going to Mop, detail, or machine polish your car with that's very different, and personally I'd want anything like that done to my car by a professional detailer.
On the bright side, if they are willing to take remedial action, that sounds like admission of liability. If they genuinely hadn't scratched the car they wouldn't offer to fix it.

No - they'll probably machine polish the wing and make it worse. Use a professional detailer. The OPC has offered to valet the car to remove the scratches (asked if I would leave it with them for 2/3 days)
