c2s or c4s 993

there seems to be a few of these cars for sale at the moment which will be the best
also they are mostly priced at aroun 34k private or trade if i was to buy private i would want it to be a few grand cheaper than trade just in case
but how far can you get traders to drop the price some cars have been on the market for some time

The standard answer to your first question appears to be "buy on condition". I had the same quandry regarding a 993C2 and a C4. In the end I plumped for the C4 due to it's condition and history. Having said that the 4WD does give you a higher level of confidence on the UKs often wet roads. I find I am far more comfortable giving it "maximum wellington" coming out of a bend than I would be with a 2WD.
In answer to your second question, I also found that there appeared to be no financial benefit in buying privately. Similar spec cars were advertised at the same sort of price privately and also at reputable independents. I never entered into a negotiation with a private buyer so I'm not sure how much they would have backed down. Personally, I would expect the same car to be about 2K cheaper if bought privately without a warranty or any type of come back.
Finally, in terms of negotiation at a dealer. I would advise about 5% plus a years warranty, tax and MOT and any other work required to make the car A1.
That's my "tuppence" worth. I am happy to be corrected and educated by the more knowledgeable on the forum.

Spec Cars are very dear for sure, and they are an indie dealer.
I thought they were just monkeys selling Porsche at silly money....till I went up there. I have never seen cars as well presented, they are nigh on as perfect as you will find.
I looked round the C2S they had / have for sale and it was totally mint.
That black GT2 'RS' made my knees weak

I've had a C4S and loved it, now have a C2 and love it also.
Search the threads, we did the whole "difference between a C2S and C4S" a few weeks ago.
Main points are:
C4S got turbo brakes (big reds), turbo suspension, and standard 18's.
But C2S is available in Vesuvius (with the silver details like mirrors, rear split grill, etc).
As far as spec cars, that's all well and good but i will never buy a perfect car... imagine how you'd feel when you saw your first stone chip. :-(
Everything on my car works as Porsche intended - i can't stand it when someone fixes something to sell the car, why not fix it straight away and enjoy it? But cosmetically she's as good as she needs to be, with a couple of stone chips, a couple of tiny scratches, and even some dirt occasionally (when its been raining for example)!!
