Airbag warning light always OFF

Inadvertently turned on ignition with airbag disconnected, so I got the light on.
Used Durametric 3 to turn it off but I was getting "module failed to initialise" errors. However when I tried by identifying the car as a 993 rather than a 996 - it worked, faults identified, cleared, light off.
However it may have worked too well...
Now the airbag light is permanently off and does not even go on when the key is in position 1 and all other lights illuminate.
Other than going to an OPC, anyone sorted this?

my boxster was exactly the same, i tried every combo on the durametric with no joy until i tried the 993, that found the fault and fixed it. My airbag light only comes on for a few seconds in position 1 then goes out, all the other lights stay on till i go to position 2 and its easy to miss. I saw this post the other day and just checked and thought it was doing the same thing as yours but it defo comes on for a few seconds.

Well that certainly gives me something to check!Wish me luck unfortunately I am away till the end of the month so won't know before then.
May I ask what version your Durametric is and on what operating system it is installed? Mine was made for and running on XP but that laptop died so I just about managed to run it on Win 8 by installing the latest drivers. Perhaps it's just not working well now because of the OS.
Not sure, mine was a hocky version of ebay for £11 posted, in my defense I knew nothing about durametric software and it was described on ebay as a "airbag reset cable". I youtubed boxster and 996 dash lights and they show the airbag light is only on for a short while then go off, i bet yours is fine and you just missed the light!
new update, i tried again today to get my airbag light on in position1 whist sitting in a traffic jam, it would not come on, i turned the key to off and back to pos1 and nothing. I have to physically remove the key from the look, stick it back in then turn to pos1 and hey presto it lights up for a few seconds, it wont come back on until i remove the key fully. Its probably what you have been doing, just swapping between positions without taking the key out!!

I would like to conclude this thread by noting that the above is 100% correct, once the key is removed and replaced the airbag check light comes on for a couple of seconds!Thanks all and quite a relief.
