Supplying Parts to dealers for Service- OEM OR OE

Looking to give my 997 in for a major service to a Porsche dealership. By supplying parts myself (filters and oil) I believe I shall be able to get a better price from the menu pricing. I know that Costco do a good price on the oil and have found a few online retailers selling the filters. Question is whether Porsche would have any objection to fitting OEM filters rather than the considerably more expensive OE ones. Car no longer in warranty.

I don't really see the point. Why not just use a respected indy?

Parts installed but not bought through an official dealer are not warrantied by the dealer. The dealer may be reluctant to use these parts -- I had a VW dealer refuse to install an alternator I bought at a parts store so this is not just Porsche dealers -- as it still has to deal with the car and the customer if the car comes back due to a part problem.

I've had an indy tell me won't use my parts/supplies either as it requires the profit from these to help its bottom line. As a result the parts and oil (and the indy used the wrong oil, so I didn't have the car serviced there) can cost nearly as much as they do at the dealer.

Another vote for the Indy. If you are not seeking to retain the OPC warranty, but rather seeking to do things on the cheap, then why use a main dealer?

Also I have found that some so called OE quality parts (not Porsche I will add) are far from it. Agreed with the above either a good Indy or bit the bullet and let OPC sort it.

Then shop around local OPC's for best deal, most will move on price if they sense a firm booking in the offing.

IMO is not worth buying parts for an OPC to fit only (if they would agree to do so), remember parts bought through the OPC carry 2 year warranty. You could supply the oil, but how much will you really save and is it 'worth' it?

If the OPC stamp is important (and continues a full OPC history?) then fair play, otherwise as others have said consider a good local Porsche indies for the work.

PCGB negotiated pretty sensible (IMHO) service pricing (£325 for my 997.2 minor service including oil). Worth exploring that route. They also give 10% off any parts fitted outside of the service.

Recently tried to get my OPC to fit some tyres supplied by me, weren't having any of it, bit of a pain when supposedly they are the only people who can fit the wheels properly (center locks)

I supply oil to my local OPC for the Boxster service because I don't want their grade of Mobil 1. I wouldn't dream of supplying anything else.
However the one man band that does my Jeep I very often supply parts to. A lot of time he'll suggest it, possibly because it saves him the time of sourcing it.

I supply my dealer everything, all genuine parts as I import from overseas. Works out much cheaper generally and they don't have a problem with it as they are genuine parts still under international warranty.

At the end of the day whether it's an OPC or indy your still taking from their bottom line, I cant imagine that anyone would want to have that kind of relationship with a customer or indeed a dealer.

Many thanks for all your responses guys. Have decided to go ahead with OPC Leicester who have given a good price and loaning a Cayman S for the day. Always worth getting a few dealers to quote their best price to you. Not one of them quoted the menu price. Car has always had an OPC service history so want maintain that. Looking to sell soon and though the knowledgable people on here are aware of many indy's offering a better service, to joe public a full dealer history car is more desirable.
