911 bodyshell differences?
Discussion
Phew what a question - yes and yes you can, though they often look like a dog's dinner.
Critical differences with the 993 are the rear multi-link suspension set-up from the 989, which makes a narrow-bodied 993 look like a wide-body 911/964.... and the windscreen wipers are close together on a 993, and wide apart on the earlier cars.

Impact Bumper cars were often forward dated to look like 964's (or occasionally 993's).
This then switched with Impact Bumpers being backdated to look like pre-74 classic 911's.
Singer based their backdated 911's on the 964.
The biggest consideration is probably what engine, gearbox and braking system you want in your finished car.
I'm sure someone will be able to go into the differences in greater detail.
As prices have risen less cars are being backdated and more are being restored to their original specification.

I have a pre 90s 911 lined up. It currently has rsr wide rear arches and big spoiler. It has a 964 engine. G50 box and torque tube. And 930 suspension and brakes.
It has a flatnose front atm.
Just wondered if panels from 964 and 993 were compatible. As I will likely convert front end into std headlights but I would really like a wide arch body car. Basically just want to know if other body panels from later cars will fit as I have a certain look in mind.

Why not just use 3.2 Carrera (or turbo depending on body) front wings and then decide on the style of front bumper? It has a flatnose front atm.

Yes of course an option just wondering how much difference in the shells.
good supplier/best places to source widebody panels similar to rs/rsr race cars? Also love the look of 993 gt2. Basically after a race rep for the road/track use.
Love the aggressive classic widebody race cars and wide gt2 body etc.
Many thanks
