Has anyone got either a parts diagram or part number for the three heater control cables that run from the cassette in the dashboard to the heater vents under the bonnet. Need to see if I can get some from the Fatherland as non in UK

Can look on the PET program but you'll have to give more precise car details - what year is she from?

Hi Neils
It's an 89 Targa 3.2 but as far as I know the cables are standard. They are the ones that run from the control cassette on the dash (red and two black sliders) to the air control flaps on the blower system in front of the scuttle. They are stainless steel. I don't want the controls just the cables. Nobody in the UK still stocks them
Cheers

Have had a look in the PET and have PDFed the relevant pages. Funny thing is they show 3 cables, but don't give the part number. Further down the page they show a generic Bowden control (Porschesprecher fur eine cable pull jawohl) with part number, but give quantity as 2. Anyway, will send you an email with my work mail address - send me a mail and I'll email the PDF across.

Typical Porsche in that the cables are not available as a seperate item, the OPC will only sell them as part of the controls. Furthermore the last time I priced the controls they were over £1000, so a lot to pay for a length of wire.

I suggest that you visit your local model shop and buy piano wire of the correct diameter and simply make your own, you may need to conjure up a special way to form the Z-bends on the ends, but buying a set of pliers is a lot cheaper than a new controller. If you need outer cables have a trip to the loca bike shop and buy some suitable bowden cables (brake cables), throw away the inner and cut the outer to length.

Depending on what the cable is like, these lot may be able to help!

Failing that, an old british motorcycle specialist can usually knock up custom cables!

Thanks Guys
All I need is the inner for 2 The P clip has worked loose at some stage and allowed it to move and kink. Had them out and straigtened them but they are marginal so not really usable. Perhaps I'll just leave the top off and turn up the heat!
